March 2018 Events Recap

Jason and Sidney’s Wedding at Hummingbird House – 3/30/18

May the Force be with these two! This Star Wars themed wedding was every SW nerds dream. Stormtroopers escorted “rowdy guests” out of the cocktail hour, all guests brought SW themed helmets to wear, and at the very end (as seen above) there was a light saber, honorary grand exit for the bride and groom. A fun theme with an even more fun dance party. Lucky to be a part of this one! Thanks to Jason and Sidney for having me.

Texas Roadhouse National Cook-off Convention at The Resort at La Cantera 3/27/18

Parented up with Groovelabs recently to do more corporate gigs. Was originally asked to DJ mostly old school rock off real Vinyl, but it turned into to a full on, get down and dirty dance party with an amazing end of the night for the national Texas Roadhouse Cook-off Convetion. Forgot to save a picture from my Instagram, but it was an unexpected fun time for everyone. Thanks to Groovelabs for trusting in me to rock this event!

Ryan and Monica’s Wedding at Texas Old Town’s Red Bud Hall – 3/23/18

Monica found me on The Knot after reading my reviews, and after an amazing wedding, she added her own. Thank you Monica and Ryan!

DJ Nick did a great job for our wedding. He kept our guests dancing the whole night long and was easy to work with throughout the planning process. He and our day of coordinator did an excellent job keeping the night moving along and everything went very smoothly. Most of all, we appreciated how genuine he was and that he always put our preferences and opinions first.

Cynthia and Ryan Wedding at Gruene Estate– 3/17/18

Cynthia and Ryan met me at the Austin Bridal Extravaganza, looking for someone who could rock a Country/South African wedding. Even though the weather was trying to put a damper on their day, I made sure the music was rocking and their guests had a great time dancing and celebrating the Austin, Texas way! Yee-haw!

Real Savvy and Drop-off SXSW Art Showcase – 3/12/18

This amazing art show case  was put on by two local startups and had an unexpected turnout for such a small unofficially SXSW spot. I was DJing in front of a portrait of Elon Musk that went for $10,000. Made me realize that I’ll never understand art.

Kendal’s Bat Mitzvah at The County Line – 3/10/18

Did you know that Every Time We Touch by Kaskade is one of the most popular songs that kids listen to, still, today. Not Sandstorm, not Justin Bieber, but this song…and Mamma Mia by Abba. I don’t write the rules, I just follow them.

Maggie and Zach’s Wedding at Springdale Farms – 3/3/18

Another amazing Hype Rhythm Live Wedding! The wedding was at the all- outdoor venue, Springdale Farms. It started to rain right before the ceremony, but luckily they had tents just in case. The rain didn’t damper our fun, as we rocked the party and made sure it was an unforgettable dance celebration for Maggie and Zach’s wedding day. Thanks for trusting in us!

February 2018 Events Recap

Alex and Marla’s Wedding at The Union on Eighth -2/24/18

A big thanks to Marla and Alex for sending this picture over that the photographer captured during their first dance and final song of the night. Just a few days before I had an appendectomy, but DJ Kit and myself still made sure I was there to DJ and make Alex and Marla’s wedding perfect. An amazing day for an amazing wedding!

Caleb’s Bar Mitzvah at The Goodnight – 2/17/18

*Picture coming soon!*

Nick is absolutely fantastic. Just the fact that I hired him for two different parties, a few years apart should say a lot! He kept the guests engaged throughout the entire party. From the grown-ups, to the kids, to everyone in between…there was always something for everyone. People were dancing and playing until the very end of the night! Nick just knows how to read the crowd and do what is needed at just the right moment. He’s easy to work with, professional, responsive, and he’s the only DJ I would ever hire for events in the future.

Hyatt Regency Austin – Abby’s Bat Mitzvah – 2/3/18

I haven’t done a mitzvah in what feels like forever, but they are so much fun to do! Especially when I already know the client (DJed for Abby’s sister, Sara’s mitzvah, two years ago) and they know how much fun we are gonna have – everyone was so excited! The pressure was on to make sure the fun was just as fun if not more fun than Sara’s. Well glad to report that I did it once again as always! Thanks for trusting me again guys! Thanks to Rachael Hall Photography for the amazing picture above from the Hora.

January 2018 Events Recap

Driskill Hotel Wedding Showcase – 1/21/18

Hype Rhythm is so excited to announce our addition of DJ Kit Ketterman to the HRDJ roster! Kit is a true professional DJ, as he’s been DJing in Austin for the past 16 years, done almost as many weddings as I have, and has been/is the resident DJ on West 6th at The Ranch (for 8 years) and Buford’s Backyard (since its opening) – All done as an individual DJ. Kit has spent many years in Radio DJing as well and is an amazing MC and coordinator. Our first event together was at the Driskill Wedding Showcase thanks to Jessica Dickman with Clink Events. Excited for 2018!!!

Hilton Austin – Corporate Party – 1/20/18

Another Groove Labs after party event that was a lot of fun to do. Going into it I was told that the (not to be named) guests would mostly be 50’s+ and to have a good selection of Classic Rock playing, but once again you can never judge a book by its cover. Ended up being a much younger crowd who wanted to hear club jams. Real DJing brought the two together and started the night off right for these guys!

Patrick and Lindsay’s Canyonwood Ridge Wedding – 1/19/18

Another amazing Hype Rhythm Live (DJ+Drummer) production at one of my personal favorite venues in Dripping Springs, Canyonwood Ridge! The two coordinators, Alex and Amanda, are some of the best at what they do and make my job so much easier and the event run smoothly and stress free.  Even though Patrick and Lindsay said they weren’t much of dancers, we knew the perfect songs to get them and their guests dancing all night as you can see below!

Audi Corporate Convention at San Antonio Grand Hyatt– 1/15/18

Thanks to this amazing partnership with Groove Labs, DJ the DJ. Groove Labs brought in over 100+ classic vinyls, which you can see on display above. Guests were invited to come up, pick a song off a vinyl, and I would mix it in on my turntables. Great way to keep the music fun and interactive, especially for a corporate event where people are there to network and not dance.

Austin Bridal Extravaganza January 6/7 2018

Had a great time spinning some classics at the ABE for the third year now! Great meeting so many people interested in what I do. As you can see, in 2018 I have taken a step forward by taking a step back (in time). Now once again DJing a (limited) real vinyl set during cocktail/dinner time for all clients, then I switch over to Serato Control Vinyl after that. Ask if you’re interested in how it works!

Austin Wedding DJ Cost

DJ Nick at Pecan Springs Ranch

“How much do you charge?”

One of the main reasons people go to the Austin Bridal Extravaganza is to get an idea of the price range that certain wedding vendors will charge. Understandably, one of the first questions people ask me as a DJ is always, “How much?”

But I’m sure some people are also asking right now, “Why not just Google it?” Try it if you want, but you will soon find that most DJs and wedding vendors do not list their prices online. Which is a big reason why people find value in going to the Extravaganza, because its the quickest way to get pricing and package information from vendors (and hopefully some deals as well). So why don’t DJs list their pricing and what is the range of pricing even like?

In order to save time for my future brides and grooms getting married in Central Texas, here is what you need to know about the price range of wedding DJs. You will find that review websites list their DJs in order of dollar signs ($), so I’m gonna break down essentially what you are paying for at each price range – from $ to $$$$ ::

December 2018 Events Recap

ILEA and 4 Holiday Parties – 12/11 through 12/15

Good news! During the second week of December I did a Holiday party every single week day. Bad news, I forgot to take pictures. However I did snap this awesome floral arrangement done by Jordan Flowers for the ILEA membership drive for my DJ table . Other Holiday parties were for The Blanton Museum, Austin Board of Realtors, UT Lonestars, and UT Sweethearts.

Ro and AJ after the last song of the night

Pecan Springs Ranch – AJ and Ro’s Wedding – 12/9/18

When AJ and Ro told me that they liked all music (country, hispanic, throwbacks, current), I told them they could 100% trust me with all the music, read the crowd, and rock the wedding. These are my personal favorite weddings to DJ and its a home-run out of the park every time. With their do not playlist consisting of just the chicken dance, I went to work. Needless to say it was a perfect wedding from start to finish (with the help of In Her Shoes Coordination) and one of my favorite weddings of 2017! Also was the second wedding in a row where Mandola’s Catering was there and I have to say its some of the best catering Italian food doing it today.

San Antonio Country Club – Ethan’s Bar Mitzvah – 12/2

Take another look at that picture above. Notice the destroyed dance floor and Ethan looking like he just played a game of basketball against LeBron.  This mitzvah was one of the craziest and most fun ones I’ve ever done. When I originally met Ethan, he was listing off the artists that he wanted to hear. These artists (Post Malone, Cardi B, Lil Pump) are rappers that I would usually play only downtown on 6th, but with the parents approval, I downloaded all the clean edits and I’ll just let the video below show how it went down. Worked alongside Stevie Weissman Events for this one and she was one of the best mitzvah coordinators Ive ever worked with!
