Hype Rhythm DJ turns one come January 2017! In celebration of an amazing 2016 in Austin, Texas, I decided to make a list of the 10 most important things (from the DJs perspective) that I took away from the past year of weddings I was a part of or heard of. First of all, the most important thing people don’t realize is that without a doubt, your wedding – if you want it to go stress free and picture perfect – is going to take a lot of time and money. The average wedding in Austin costs 30k, easily. The last thing you want is to be looking back at the wedding thinking of all the things you wish you would have known before, which leads me into my first point.. 1/12/17 – Thursday Therapy Austin
Had the privilege of DJing for Thursday Therapy Austin at The Thinkery. TT is a “A fun gathering for wedding pros to meet, mingle, share.” I DJed a fun mix of chill, electronica music. Sample of what it sounded like below.
New Years Eve
Hype Rhythm did the countdown to midnight @ Buckshot on 6th Street Austin, Texas. Only video we found was from Snapchat, but hey at least you get to see how hype the drop into 24K Magic was!
12/17/16 – Wedding
Boom, another wedding of the year candidate out at Camp Lucy. This was one of those weddings that even with 3 hours, the guests were such dancers that we could have easily gone another 3. Congratulations and thank you so much to Stevie and Todd for having me be such a big part of their big day! You can check out Stevie’s 5 star review on The Knot.
12/10/16 – Wedding
Congratulations to Jay and Jill! I say this way too often now, but this wedding could be up there for wedding of the year. Everything was absolutely perfect about this wedding, the party was an absolute blast, and I’m so happy that I was able to be a part of something so awesome. Hype Rhythm DJ not only did the music, but also the uplighting and day-of coordination at Memory Lane Event Center . More picture’s to come from Beth McElhannon Photography! You can read Jill’s 5 star review of Hype Rhythm on The Knot!
12/9/16 – Austin Silent Disco
Back to back days of the Austin Silent Disco, this time at Concrete Cowboy Downtown 6th Street. I couldn’t tell you the name of this corporate party, but I can say that they had a great time. If you haven’t been to a Silent Disco, I highly recommend looking into it. Seriously, these parties are always so much fun!
12/8/16 – Austin Silent Disco
Thanks to Austin Silent Disco for having me out to DJ a corporate party at 800 Congress. First of all, I have to stress how hard it is to get a good picture of the event while I’m also the DJ, so.. sorry, this here is my attempt. Regardless, DJ Nicky Danger and I had over 150 fashion designers dancing the night away to throw back 80’s, 90’s and today’s music. We even went an hour over the end of the night because it was so much fun. Hope to be back next year!
12/4/16 – Wedding
Congratulations to Grace and Mitch who got married at Cedar Bend Events! The weather was equally challenging as the day before, but Hype Rhythm DJ played the fire that kept the guests dancing and warm. Thanks for having us out and helping y’all pull off a perfect wedding! You can read Mitch’s 5 star review of Hype Rhythm on The Knot!
12/3/16 – Wedding
The cold weather and rain made this day especially tricky at House on the Hill, but Hype Rhythm DJ found a way to make it all work. Even though we had to set up in the dinning room (above) due to the dance floor being outside, we were able to move all of the tables out of the way after dinner and still have a fun 5 hour dance segment! Congratulations to Stephanie and William!
12/2/16 – Corporate Party
Thanks to Nancy and The Higginbotham Group for having me out to DJ their annual Holiday corporate party at The Four Seasons Downtown. As always, guests had a great time, and we even were able to get in a “Mannequin Challenge” at the end of the night. It came out pretty good, check it out below! Can’t wait till next year’s!
11/26/16 – 90th Birthday Party
This past weekend, I DJed for Dorris at her surprise 90th birthday party at Balcones Country Club. This lady is seriously Wonder Woman. Not only did she turn 90 (and looks fantastic!), but she also has 13 kids, 40 something grandkids, and danced all the way till midnight. Dorris has me cracking up in the picture because she was pointing to me saying “Get a picture of this guy, cause he’s gonna be the one to blame when I won’t be able to walk at all tomorrow.” Glad I could make the 90th so unforgettable, can’t wait to do the 100th!
11/18/16 – 50th Birthday Celebration
Thanks to Lynne for having me out to DJ her 80’s themed 50th birthday house party! Below you can see the grill master (to the left) acting like he’s DJing as well. I must have said at least 10 times that night that “This is the final song of the night”, but just couldn’t bring myself to stop the party when we were having such a good time! An hour after the planned end time and guests were still dancing up a storm. Snapped this shot before I almost forgot!
11/12/16 – Wedding
I was lucky enough for my friend since pre-K 4, Kelsi, and her fiancé, Dan, to ask me if I would DJ their wedding. Not only that, but they needed some vendor suggestions, as they were planning the wedding themselves. As you can see from the picture above, they did stunningly! Revive Vintage did the stained glass windows, and Andre with Lens Out Loud did the photography. Andre also caught me (below) getting down with the guests to some George Strait. The venue, Miltown Historic District, combined with the amazing weather, was absolutely gorgeous. Kelsi, Dan, thank you so much for including me on such a special day! Glad you and your guests had such a great time dancing the night away!
Halloween Weekend 2017
Throwback to 2011! Once again teaming up with my DJ mentor and old college roommate, DJ JC, for some spooky sets on 6th Street @ The Nook on Friday and Buckshots on Saturday. Last year we went over capacity by 12. Get there ASAP!
10/16/16 – Wedding
About a year ago my cousin Clare and her fiancé Roy called me and said they were getting married at the Hotel Valencia in San Antonio. It was an honor for them to believe and trust in me enough to DJ and help plan their wedding. Not only was the wedding amazing and my family still raving about it, but the up-lighting done by ILD was absolutely gorgeous! I’ll never forget sharing such great memories with y’all on such a special day!
10/15/16 – Wedding
Thanks and Congratulations to Bethany and Sam, who were married at Angel Springs in Georgetown, Texas. Loved this one as the bride and groom had an awesome taste in 60’s oldies, country music, and metal. Thanks for trusting in me to rock your party!
9/28/16 – Austin Silent Disco @ Concrete Cowboy
Was asked once again by the guys at the Austin Silent Disco to do a corporate party at the Concrete Cowboy on West 6th. Went head-to-head against two other DJs (Red and Green). I represented Team Blue. As you can see from the picture above, Team Blue knows what to do! Honestly, at first I was skeptical of the fun of an event where you put headphones on, but it’s seriously always one of the best dance parties I’ve have ever been to! I highly recommend giving it at least a chance one day!
9/27/16 – ILEA Monthly Meeting
Thank you to ILEA for having me out to DJ a quick hour 70’s and 80’s music set while at the monthly meeting. Seriously had such a fun time mixing such a fun throwback set. Thanks to Lisa Hause Photography, who caught this candid photo of me having a chuckle.
9/25/16 – Layla’s Mitzvah
Repost from Instagram, but special thanks to Rachael Hall for capturing this great shot from the bat mitzvah at the AT&T Conference Center at UT Austin. Layla wanted a vintage themed mitzvah. Thanks to Modern Jewish Wedding for bringing together The Cup Cake Bar, Disch Events, Shutterbooth CTX, Bee Lavish Vintage, and Love Joy Events, who all pulled off some amazing teamwork to transform the space into a mini grand ball!
9/10/16 – Emily and Jack’s Mitzvah
Had a great time at The Oasis for Emily and Jack’s B’nai Mitzvah! Shout out to Andy Sam’s Photography for the great pictures you see above. Dominique with Lavish Me did an amazing job coordinating the event. Finally thanks to Alchemist Prime for helping me DJ this mitzvah as you can see above. This party was seriously a candidate for mitzvah of the year!!
Update: December 2016.
