November 2017 Events Recap

The Terrace Club Wedding – 11/12/17

!!New Announcement: Once again DJing with real vinyl!!

Decided that during the month of November I would try DJing with real vinyl during dinner once again to see how guests would respond. Long story short is that guests loved it and as a result I will now be brining back real vinyl into my gigs. It’s a great conversation starter and brings the real authentic “Austin DJ” vibes.

More importantly, and as always, The Terrace Club (Kristen, Hunter, and their staff) did an amazing job at Raquel and Tyler’s wedding. No rain was predicted for this Sunday wedding, but minutes before the ceremony a storm passed through, drenching the ceremony site. Kristen made sure every inch of the ceremony site was dry, and below you can see the beautiful bride, Raquel, waiting for the rain to pass and the ceremony to begin.

Backyard Wedding – 11/11/17

James and Courtney had an absolutely beautiful and cozy wedding at their parents house here in Austin. Favorite memory: As I was arriving to the wedding, I found the two best men rehearsing their toast/speech in secret and cracking up. So of course, this was one of the funniest best men speeches (see also: Roast) I’ve ever heard and I had to take a picture as to not forget. Glad they could bring the laughs and I brought the tunes!

Rattle Inn UT Theta Parents Weekend – 11/10/17

I was asked to fill in for DJ Kit K for the yearly UT Theta parents weekend, a late night gathering of over 400+ people. The person who put the event on, Laura, told me she didn’t expect any one to dance, but of course Hype Rhythm brings that fire in the winter. The calm scene above turned into a mosh of ladies dancing to hits from the 80’s and 90’s – much to everyone’s dismay, I could have easily done an encore for another hour had I not had another gig later that night as well downtown already. Such a blast and thankful I had the opportunity. Thanks to Kit, Laura, and Theta!

Mimosa Hall Wedding – 11/4/17

Candace and Mike saw me originally at Kim and Rob’s wedding that I did back last year and knowing how much fun they were in store for, they asked me to drive up to the DFW area to Mimosa Hall to DJ their wedding. Favorite memory: A fun alternative to not being able to use sparklers or bubbles is glow necklaces as seen above. Thanks for having me and glad we could get the party lit!

October 2017 Events Recap

Canyonwood Ridge Wedding – 10/29/17

October is always the busiest month of the year for weddings, and this year was no different! Finished out the final and 7th wedding of October with Raquel and Dan at one of my personal favorite venues in Dripping Springs, Canyonwood Ridge because of their beautiful inside ceremony space pictured above. To summarize the feels of the evening, in the words of Dan, “That dance party was all because of you, wouldn’t have happened without you”. Glad I could bring the dancing fire to a Sunday wedding!

The Allan House Wedding – 10/28/17

I will never forget this specific wedding- it was literally a life changing ceremony. When I initially met with Courtney and Matt, they explained that they were gonna officiate their own wedding (i.e. just exchange vows and rings), as they had already been legally married. I had never even heard of this before in 8 years of DJing weddings, so I was honestly a little skeptical of how it was all gonna play out because the bride and groom are usually nervous the day of, but I love untraditional stuff, so I was happy to oblige. Admittedly a strange sight, Matt walked up to the front – no officiant or wedding party in tow- and thanked the guests for coming, and then motioned to me to being playing Courtney’s processional song.

If you haven’t ever been to a wedding, the officiant usually talks about the couple’s relation, quotes some passages on love, helps the couple recite their vows to one another, helps them exchange ring vows, and then legally pronounces them newly weds. When meeting with them before beginning, they were both visibly nervous and stiff, but as soon as they started talking to each other they completely opened up. Courtney and Matt’s ceremony blew my mind because it was like them speaking from the heart to one another about their history together, why they fell in love, and are still falling in love each day with each other so much that they wanna spend the rest of their lives together. The eloquence and confidence with which both of them spoke and the way you could feel their emotions for one another.  It was such a special ceremony because of its beautiful uniqueness, just like their love – something to envy. So now, thank you to  Courtney and Matt for changing my perspective on wedding ceremonies, officiants, and love. It was an honor to be your DJ!

Agudas Achim Wedding – 10/22/17

Aliza and Jennifer put a lot a trust into me to help pull off their non-traditional, yet traditional Jewish wedding off. They were understandably nervous leading into the wedding, but it was one of those weddings where the family wants to get up and start dancing before dinner is even over. Long story short, it was one of the most fun dance segments at a wedding, even got Granpa Annon guest DJing!

Brodie Homestead Wedding – 10/21/17

Another great example of why to have a professional wedding DJ! When meeting with David and Raisha, they were open to dancing to anything and everything; However, initially their guests weren’t as obliging. Noticing a fair amount of hispanics and using my San Antonio roots, I pulled out one of the best Cumbia/Salsa/Reggaton sets I’ve ever spun and knocked it out of the park for the newly weds. Thanks for trusting in my song selections and allowing me to help make the day perfect!

Stonehouse Vineyard Wedding – 10/19/17

Thursday weddings are super rare, so I was more than happy to DJ for Jeremy and Elizabeth with their small wedding of 50 people. They didn’t expect guests to dance, but still, as a DJ the goal is to pull off the unexpected small dance party. Proud to say the unexpected dance party happened! Thanks for having me and congratulations!

TerrAdorna Wedding – 10/14/17

I was so excited to be the DJ for Albert and Jennifer! As a South Texas DJ, its awesome when you can play the all of the “super 3 wedding dance genre’s”(Classic and new wedding Hits, Country music, and Hispanic music). Favorite part of the day was the special ceremony during the actual ceremony where Albert and Jennifer poured a shot of Tequila (while I softly played Tequila by The Champs of course) as their “unity ceremony”. Definitely gonna be recommending that one in the future!

Hog Heaven Wedding – 10/7/17

Hog Heaven is actually not a public wedding venue, but rather a client of the personal trainers and newlyweds, Gina and Bane! An absolutely gorgeous skeet shooting and sport venue in Dripping Springs, its a shame it isn’t on the market for future weddings. Nonetheless, it was an amazing time and I was blown away by how everyone in attendance made me feel like I needed to go on a diet and hit the gym. Congratulations and thank you for putting your trust in Hype Rhythm.

July 2017

7/8/17 – Wedding

Blessed to have a family who supports my passion, and especially to my cousin who had me out to DJ his Saturday brunch wedding at the South Congress Hotel. This wedding was another amazing affair put together and coordinated by Michelle with Here to Help! I love brunch weddings, and especially having our family there to dance and have a good time made it unforgettable. Congratulations Mitch and Sarah!

7/3/17 – Wedding

Had a great time DJing for these two Baylor graduates, Emily and Adam, who got married out at Texas Old Town‘s Sage Hall the day before July the 4th (smart!). Guests had such a fun time dancing that we got too lit and ended up breaking the AC. Even though hot, we played it cool and still had a great time on the dance floor. Congratulations!

7/1/17 -Wedding

Unfortunately, I didn’t get a picture of this wedding, but still wanted to post a big thank you to Jeremiah and Dee for having me there to DJ/Host/Coordinate their wedding. Dee suffers from a fear of public speaking and didn’t think she was gonna be able to make it through saying her vows. When it finally got to her vows, she began to break down and it looked like they were gonna have to be skipped, but instead of crying she overcame her fear and – seriously – said some of the most beautiful, heartfelt vows I have ever heard in 250+ weddings. Was really special to witness something so passionate like that, so thank you guys for having me!

May 2017

5/28/17 – Wedding

Thank you so much to my fellow UT grads, Ashley and Scott, for trusting me to help them with their wedding at Ma Maison! When we were in college Ashley would hire me to DJ her organization’s parties, so from the boat parties, to formals, and now your wedding, I’m so thankful for your friendship and support! Everything was absolutely perfect, as always, from start to finish and I couldn’t be more happy for y’all as the new Mr. and Mrs. Rasmussen! My Snapchat story below.

5/27/17 – Wedding

Had a great time at Donnie and Kelsey’s wedding at The Addison Grove. Rebecca and Kim with Eclipse Events did an amazing job helping fight through the rain and humidity to pull of a perfect wedding! Of course, yours truly came through with the on point music to make an unforgettable night for everyone. My Snapchat story below.

5/20/17 – 50th Birthday Party

Jennifer was looking for unique and unusual entertainment for her husband’s 50th birthday, Hype Rhythm was just what she was looking for. We all had a great time and guests could not get enough of our contagious dance energy and great song selections! Pictured above is the look of our set up that is now included in every package. Four up-lights, two stage (party) lights on stands, Bose dual tower system, wireless mic, and of course with a real drum kit and real turntables.

5/19/17 – Wedding

Thank you to Debora and John for trusting me to help make your day unforgettable at the beautiful, new Dripping Springs venue, Canyonwood Ridge. Highly recommended for its beautiful chapel seen above!

The real story here was at the very end of the night when guests were asked to line up for the sparkler exit. Long story short, the limo driver got lost on the way to the venue and ended up bottoming out in a ditch. Still wanting to make their day perfect, I stepped up to the plate and offered my Jeep to be the getaway vehicle for their sparkler exit. Funniest thing I’ve ever done as a DJ while doing this for the past 8 years. I can now say my services include DJ, MC, Officiant, and Limo Driver! I do it all to make your day perfect!

5/13/17 – Wedding

Kim and Rob got married at Blue Rock Estate , recently opened by Disch Events, an absolutely beautiful venue! This was one of the first weddings where I was asked to play throwback hits from the early 2010’s, which makes me feel old just typing that. Haha! Congratulations to Kim and Rob and thanks for having me be there to make everything go perfect!

5/6/17 – Wedding

When you have a large, beautiful backyard, having a wedding at your house isn’t a bad idea. Thank you so much to my long time friends, Sara and John for having me to their house in San Antonio to DJ their dinner and reception.

5/5/17 – Wedding

Hype Rhythm Live did our second official wedding at Barr Mansion! We were so excited to be the preforming for this wedding, and honestly, it exceeded our expectations for how much fun it was gonna be. Luckily, we had Airebourne Entertainment there to video capture all the dance floor action! Official professional video coming ASAP! Thank you for trusting us for taking your wedding to the next level, and congratulations to my A&M friends, John and Hailey!

March Madness

3/25/17 – First Hype Rhythm Live Wedding

Congratulations and thank you so much to Yvette and Jorge of Vintage Photography Fine Art for having us down to San Benito, Texas to help celebrate their wedding at Rancho La Pergola. We were so excited for this one, as this was our first official wedding with the new DJ/Drummer concept. Needless to say, it was amazing! In the words of the groom “We wish he coulda been in the middle of the dance floor, our guests loved it!” Thank you so much once again for trusting us to premier our new concept at yall’s wedding. Looking forward to 2017 and changing up the wedding entertainment game!!!

Hype Rhythm @ SXSW 2017

Leading into the week of SXSW (thankfully it’s over), we had Aireborne Entertainment shoot this video of us preforming our newest DJ/Drummer concept at The Nook. Needless to say, it’s been going off like we never imagined! Another amazing video from the photoshoot above is coming real soon!

3/18/17 – SXSWedding

Thank you thank you so much to Rebecca and John for having me out to Hummingbird House to DJ their dream wedding! These guys are my dream client, wanting everything and anything from Country, Latino, throwbacks, and today’s jams. I usually only recommend a two hour dance segment, but Rebecca and John said they wanted to go for three. By the end of the night, we easily could have gone for another hour! I was in the zone not thinking of shooting a video, but hopefully we will get a video posted ASAP!

3/11/17 – Wedding

Congratulations to Brooke and Calvin who escaped a rather rainy weekend just in time to have a gorgeous ceremony at the beautiful Horseshoe Bay Resort in Marble Falls, Texas! I promised them the best dance segment ever, and as always I delivered! Video/Review to be coming soon!

3/4/17 – Wedding

Where to begin! Nick is the absolute best DJ and was an easy choice for our wedding! He did an amazing job communicating with us leading up to the wedding and his software system/website made organizing our music a breeze. It also gives you suggestions and helps you nix songs you definitely don’t want played (which is awesome). Our ceremony and reception were in two different places but Nick was able to provide the equipment and music for both! The ceremony music was absolutely perfect and he executed every transition so smoothly. Our reception turned into a huge dance party, which is exactly what we were wanting! Nick had people of all ages on the dance floor the entire night! You could really tell everyone was enjoying themselves. My husband and I were constantly getting compliments the entire night about how great Nick was and how they wished they had had a DJ like him for their weddings! We could not have asked for anything better! Nick worked with our coordinators leading up to the wedding to make sure everything was organized and ready. He also worked with them throughout the wedding to make sure the night ran smoothly all while being an AWESOME MC. For anyone looking for an amazing DJ you could not do any better than Nick! We highly recommend Hype Rhythm for anyone and everyone’s wedding! Nick is more than we could have ever asked for and helped to make our night perfect and full of amazing memories! Go with Hype Rhythm!

5 out of 5 stars via The Knot

Thank you to Katelyn and Drew for having me as their DJ at The Terrace Club. Apologies for the iPhone video below that I shot, but its a nice little sneak peak of the fun we had!
