Austin Wedding DJ Cost

DJ Nick at Pecan Springs Ranch

“How much do you charge?”

One of the main reasons people go to the Austin Bridal Extravaganza is to get an idea of the price range that certain wedding vendors will charge. Understandably, one of the first questions people ask me as a DJ is always, “How much?”

But I’m sure some people are also asking right now, “Why not just Google it?” Try it if you want, but you will soon find that most DJs and wedding vendors do not list their prices online. Which is a big reason why people find value in going to the Extravaganza, because its the quickest way to get pricing and package information from vendors (and hopefully some deals as well). So why don’t DJs list their pricing and what is the range of pricing even like?

In order to save time for my future brides and grooms getting married in Central Texas, here is what you need to know about the price range of wedding DJs. You will find that review websites list their DJs in order of dollar signs ($), so I’m gonna break down essentially what you are paying for at each price range – from $ to $$$$ ::

December 2018 Events Recap

ILEA and 4 Holiday Parties – 12/11 through 12/15

Good news! During the second week of December I did a Holiday party every single week day. Bad news, I forgot to take pictures. However I did snap this awesome floral arrangement done by Jordan Flowers for the ILEA membership drive for my DJ table . Other Holiday parties were for The Blanton Museum, Austin Board of Realtors, UT Lonestars, and UT Sweethearts.

Ro and AJ after the last song of the night

Pecan Springs Ranch – AJ and Ro’s Wedding – 12/9/18

When AJ and Ro told me that they liked all music (country, hispanic, throwbacks, current), I told them they could 100% trust me with all the music, read the crowd, and rock the wedding. These are my personal favorite weddings to DJ and its a home-run out of the park every time. With their do not playlist consisting of just the chicken dance, I went to work. Needless to say it was a perfect wedding from start to finish (with the help of In Her Shoes Coordination) and one of my favorite weddings of 2017! Also was the second wedding in a row where Mandola’s Catering was there and I have to say its some of the best catering Italian food doing it today.

San Antonio Country Club – Ethan’s Bar Mitzvah – 12/2

Take another look at that picture above. Notice the destroyed dance floor and Ethan looking like he just played a game of basketball against LeBron.  This mitzvah was one of the craziest and most fun ones I’ve ever done. When I originally met Ethan, he was listing off the artists that he wanted to hear. These artists (Post Malone, Cardi B, Lil Pump) are rappers that I would usually play only downtown on 6th, but with the parents approval, I downloaded all the clean edits and I’ll just let the video below show how it went down. Worked alongside Stevie Weissman Events for this one and she was one of the best mitzvah coordinators Ive ever worked with!

November 2017 Events Recap

The Terrace Club Wedding – 11/12/17

!!New Announcement: Once again DJing with real vinyl!!

Decided that during the month of November I would try DJing with real vinyl during dinner once again to see how guests would respond. Long story short is that guests loved it and as a result I will now be brining back real vinyl into my gigs. It’s a great conversation starter and brings the real authentic “Austin DJ” vibes.

More importantly, and as always, The Terrace Club (Kristen, Hunter, and their staff) did an amazing job at Raquel and Tyler’s wedding. No rain was predicted for this Sunday wedding, but minutes before the ceremony a storm passed through, drenching the ceremony site. Kristen made sure every inch of the ceremony site was dry, and below you can see the beautiful bride, Raquel, waiting for the rain to pass and the ceremony to begin.

Backyard Wedding – 11/11/17

James and Courtney had an absolutely beautiful and cozy wedding at their parents house here in Austin. Favorite memory: As I was arriving to the wedding, I found the two best men rehearsing their toast/speech in secret and cracking up. So of course, this was one of the funniest best men speeches (see also: Roast) I’ve ever heard and I had to take a picture as to not forget. Glad they could bring the laughs and I brought the tunes!

Rattle Inn UT Theta Parents Weekend – 11/10/17

I was asked to fill in for DJ Kit K for the yearly UT Theta parents weekend, a late night gathering of over 400+ people. The person who put the event on, Laura, told me she didn’t expect any one to dance, but of course Hype Rhythm brings that fire in the winter. The calm scene above turned into a mosh of ladies dancing to hits from the 80’s and 90’s – much to everyone’s dismay, I could have easily done an encore for another hour had I not had another gig later that night as well downtown already. Such a blast and thankful I had the opportunity. Thanks to Kit, Laura, and Theta!

Mimosa Hall Wedding – 11/4/17

Candace and Mike saw me originally at Kim and Rob’s wedding that I did back last year and knowing how much fun they were in store for, they asked me to drive up to the DFW area to Mimosa Hall to DJ their wedding. Favorite memory: A fun alternative to not being able to use sparklers or bubbles is glow necklaces as seen above. Thanks for having me and glad we could get the party lit!

October 2017 Events Recap

Canyonwood Ridge Wedding – 10/29/17

October is always the busiest month of the year for weddings, and this year was no different! Finished out the final and 7th wedding of October with Raquel and Dan at one of my personal favorite venues in Dripping Springs, Canyonwood Ridge because of their beautiful inside ceremony space pictured above. To summarize the feels of the evening, in the words of Dan, “That dance party was all because of you, wouldn’t have happened without you”. Glad I could bring the dancing fire to a Sunday wedding!

The Allan House Wedding – 10/28/17

I will never forget this specific wedding- it was literally a life changing ceremony. When I initially met with Courtney and Matt, they explained that they were gonna officiate their own wedding (i.e. just exchange vows and rings), as they had already been legally married. I had never even heard of this before in 8 years of DJing weddings, so I was honestly a little skeptical of how it was all gonna play out because the bride and groom are usually nervous the day of, but I love untraditional stuff, so I was happy to oblige. Admittedly a strange sight, Matt walked up to the front – no officiant or wedding party in tow- and thanked the guests for coming, and then motioned to me to being playing Courtney’s processional song.

If you haven’t ever been to a wedding, the officiant usually talks about the couple’s relation, quotes some passages on love, helps the couple recite their vows to one another, helps them exchange ring vows, and then legally pronounces them newly weds. When meeting with them before beginning, they were both visibly nervous and stiff, but as soon as they started talking to each other they completely opened up. Courtney and Matt’s ceremony blew my mind because it was like them speaking from the heart to one another about their history together, why they fell in love, and are still falling in love each day with each other so much that they wanna spend the rest of their lives together. The eloquence and confidence with which both of them spoke and the way you could feel their emotions for one another.  It was such a special ceremony because of its beautiful uniqueness, just like their love – something to envy. So now, thank you to  Courtney and Matt for changing my perspective on wedding ceremonies, officiants, and love. It was an honor to be your DJ!

Agudas Achim Wedding – 10/22/17

Aliza and Jennifer put a lot a trust into me to help pull off their non-traditional, yet traditional Jewish wedding off. They were understandably nervous leading into the wedding, but it was one of those weddings where the family wants to get up and start dancing before dinner is even over. Long story short, it was one of the most fun dance segments at a wedding, even got Granpa Annon guest DJing!

Brodie Homestead Wedding – 10/21/17

Another great example of why to have a professional wedding DJ! When meeting with David and Raisha, they were open to dancing to anything and everything; However, initially their guests weren’t as obliging. Noticing a fair amount of hispanics and using my San Antonio roots, I pulled out one of the best Cumbia/Salsa/Reggaton sets I’ve ever spun and knocked it out of the park for the newly weds. Thanks for trusting in my song selections and allowing me to help make the day perfect!

Stonehouse Vineyard Wedding – 10/19/17

Thursday weddings are super rare, so I was more than happy to DJ for Jeremy and Elizabeth with their small wedding of 50 people. They didn’t expect guests to dance, but still, as a DJ the goal is to pull off the unexpected small dance party. Proud to say the unexpected dance party happened! Thanks for having me and congratulations!

TerrAdorna Wedding – 10/14/17

I was so excited to be the DJ for Albert and Jennifer! As a South Texas DJ, its awesome when you can play the all of the “super 3 wedding dance genre’s”(Classic and new wedding Hits, Country music, and Hispanic music). Favorite part of the day was the special ceremony during the actual ceremony where Albert and Jennifer poured a shot of Tequila (while I softly played Tequila by The Champs of course) as their “unity ceremony”. Definitely gonna be recommending that one in the future!

Hog Heaven Wedding – 10/7/17

Hog Heaven is actually not a public wedding venue, but rather a client of the personal trainers and newlyweds, Gina and Bane! An absolutely gorgeous skeet shooting and sport venue in Dripping Springs, its a shame it isn’t on the market for future weddings. Nonetheless, it was an amazing time and I was blown away by how everyone in attendance made me feel like I needed to go on a diet and hit the gym. Congratulations and thank you for putting your trust in Hype Rhythm.

September 2017: Start of Fall Wedding Season in Austin, Texas!

The Austonian Residents Party and 6th Street Video – 9/23/17

Soon to be releasing videos from our two events this past weekend with videography and photography done by Airebourne Entertainment. Stay tuned!

San Antonio Wedding at The Witte Museum – 9/16/17

A majority of the weddings I DJ are in the Austin area, but I’m no stranger to San Antonio, and especially the Witte Museum. The groom, Matt, and I had played soccer together for a few years in high school, and I was honored when Matt and his fiancé, Claire, asked me to be their DJ. The dance floor was packed all night and I couldn’t be more happy for the newlyweds! Review to be posted soon!

Associated Wedding Planners of Austin – 9/12/17

The top wedding vendors in Austin were invited to a secret reveal party for AWPA, or Associated Wedding Planners of Austin. The goal of AWPA is to promote higher wedding industry standards for planners and the unbiased recommendation of other wedding vendors. Looking forward to working with AWPA associates in the future!

San Antonio Wedding at Embassy Suites Riverwalk – 9/2/17

I’ve done close to about 300 weddings now and had never seen this dance floor modification before – its a giant vinyl sticker with the couples monogram printed on top done by Embassy Suites. Knowing how much fun of a dance party they were about to have, I was really excited to take the before and after picture of the dance floor. Needless to say, the party was a blast and I played everything from Country, Hispanic, Top Hits, Throwbacks, and even got to Rick-Roll the groom with help from the bride. Congratulations Jessica and Chris, it was an honor to DJ for you guys, and wishing y’all the best!

Austin Wedding at The Texas Women’s Federation – 9/1/17

To me, this wedding was one of the best reasons why to hire a DJ for your wedding. The bride was looking for a sing-along type dance segment to  unconventional hits from the 60’s-80’s. I took the bride’s playlist and mixed it in with some more well known hits from that time as well to keep the guests on the dance floor all night! Ended with a Freddy Mercury/Michael Jackson/Prince sing along tribute, long story short – PERFECT! Thanks to Jen and Jon for having me help them pull off a great wedding.
